Biography
I have been studying music production for the last 5 years (2 years at Hereford College and 3 Years at Brighton University) But my life has revolved around music for as long as I can remember.
As a child I enjoyed listening to my mothers Jimi Hendrix and Beatles LP's, as a result I developed a keen interest in rock music, especially British bands such as The Who, The Beatles, Blur and Oasis.
During my teenage years my love of Brit-pop bands such as The Charlatans, Pulp, Suede and The La’s flourished. I began to develop a passion for the music scene in Manchester. I have since come to understand the importance of music in our society as a cultural tool, inspired by the highly influential escapades of Tony Wilson and the Factory records era.
My musical taste evolved into electronica, techno and house music as I became a member of a sound system hire come party group called U-Like sound system. We still put on successful club nights across the midlands with a dedicated following, and through the success of this group, I began developing my own performance as a DJ, playing all over the country, mainly in the north at venues such as Cream in Liverpool and the Masque in Manchester, as well as venues in London, Wales and Bradford
This was where I became interested in producing music, and the further I delved into the world of music production, the more obscure and varied my taste in music became.
My productions are also very varied.
I have produced several Shackleton and Burial inluenced Techno/Dub-Step Hybrid tracks, also some easy listening, almost classical layered broken beats influenced by Murcof and many releases on City Centre Offices label as well as the deep dub tinged riffs of Leftfield. My other main area of production is Detroit and Minimal house and Techno where I have taken inspiration from Joris Voorn, Laurent Garnier and Carl Craig to name but a few.
At the moment I am happily living in Brighton and am constantly inspired by the people and environment I find myself encapsulated in. I find the liberal nature of Brighton gives the town a relaxed atmosphere, which promotes creativity and culture in a way no other city can. I am one of five founder members of a club night come party group called Fractions, and have been involved in some financially successful, and thoroughly enjoyable parties at many different venues in Brighton. Though I am passionate about promotion and events organising, my main goal is to find an application for my love of music production, sound design and performance and am keen to broaden my experience of the music industry in all areas.
Although I recognise that the music industry is very competitive, I still aspire to be creating sounds and music for media and working on my own productions at the same time. Please take the time to listen to my productions and compilations of music intended for use with media, for film scores, for adverts and for idents etc. If you feel that my work could be of any use to your company or project, please contact me via the details on the contacts page.
