Flying Site

KMMFC has a two acre flying site. The layout of the field is shown above, and has the following attributes:
Dedicated car parking
A pit area for setting up and engine starting
Peg board for channel control
Wind sock for wind direction
Flying area (runways) and pilot boxes
The flying site is unique as we operate a runway system. There are four dedicated runways that are used depending on wind direction. Each runway is indicated by its compass heading number. This is very similar to full-size flying.
We use a runway system because it simply makes better pilots. Having the skill to land on a designated runway improves the pilot's coordination and makes flying safer.
The flying field is suitable for trainers and scale aircraft alike. If you are an experienced flyer from another club then you are welcome to visit. Please let us know beforehand what you intend to fly though!
Naturally, the flying site requires constant maintenance throughout the year, and our undying gratitude is given to the groundsman and helpers who volunteer their time freely. Generally, Wednesdays or Saturdays are spent mowing the grass and tidying the environment. Without this generous effort, we would not be able to fly!
Car Parking Update
As the number of members has begun to increase, there was a need to improve the parking facilities.
The club was donated a considerable amount of hardcore and tarmac to create a larger parking area outside the main gate.
Thanks is given to the local contractors for their generosity.

The club had a collection to raise funds to pay for a JCB and driver.
Groundsman Bill and the other guys gave up a Wednesday to supervise and help.

The JCB and driver starting working on the mounds.
No problem for this machine, beats the pick and shovel hands down...
Hey presto! A car park quickly appears.
The club would like to thank all who donated and helped.
